Events, Prints, a Show and New Work
EVENTS: The Portrait Booth will be making two appearances at fundraisers in the first week of October. The first will be at the Portland Zoo for the Salvation Army’s All About the Kids annual dinner on Thursday the 7th. The second is at the 35th anniversary reception at Blue Sky Gallery in Portland on Friday the 8th. There’s going to be a silent auction of instant photos by Blue Sky artists and friends in partnership with The Impossible Project and we’ll be shooting portraits of all the guests. If you want to attend be sure to RSVP, as the space is very limited.
PRINTS: I’ve been spending my weekends selling prints downtown as part of the Portland Saturday Market. I’ve got a large spread of Polaroids of Portland and some vintage suitcases full of monochrome images from my recent travels. My exact location will change daily, but you can find me somewhere under the Burnside Bridge most Saturdays and Sundays for the rest of the year. Stop by and say hello.
A SHOW: In August I had a show of my Polaroids at The White Room Gallery in Thomas, West Virginia. We threw a portrait party with The Booth and strung a selection of 50 enlarged polaroids from my Polaroid 366 project along the walls. The talented Carolyn Manney was in attendance and has a collection of images from Thomas for those who want to see more.
NEW WORK: My recent inclinations to delve into large-format photography have also seen progress recently. I’ve been gifted a Crown Graphic 4x5 and started shooting people outside the booth, composing with that gorgeous ground glass and subjecting my friends to evening portrait sessions. There will surely be more to come. If you’re in Portland and would like to be a test subject in an upcoming portrait evening please get in touch…
